How to Book Equipment Hire Online with MarKay Outdoors

Follow this step-by-step guide to book equipment hire in Mackay, choose the right hire period, complete the Dry Hire Agreement, understand the refundable fuel bond and prepare for collection.

Before You Start Your Booking

Booking online is straightforward, but choosing the wrong machine, attachment or hire period can waste time and money. Work through these checks before paying.

Know the main job you need the equipment to complete.
Measure gates, paths and access to the work area.
Check the towing capacity of your vehicle where required.
Confirm which attachment or accessories you need.
Estimate a realistic hire period without rushing.
Locate underground services before any digging begins.
Have your driver licence ready for the agreement form.
Check that your preferred dates are available online.
Not sure what to hire? Do not guess. Use the MarKay Outdoors Knowledge Centre or contact MarKay Outdoors before booking.

Step 1: Open the Equipment Hire Collection

1

Go to the Equipment Hire Mackay collection to view the machines, trailers and equipment currently available.

The range may include Kanga mini loaders and attachments, stump grinders, lawn-care equipment, rotary hoes, generators, plate compactors, trailers and other hire equipment.

Step 2: Choose the Right Equipment

2

Open the product page for the equipment you want to hire and read the full description before selecting a booking option.

Check the following details carefully:

  • What work the machine is designed to perform
  • What attachments or accessories are included
  • Any optional attachments that cost extra
  • Access width and operating-space requirements
  • Trailer, towing and plug requirements
  • Fuel, cleaning and return conditions
  • Available hire periods, dates and times
Kanga attachments: An auger, trencher, bucket, levelling bar or front hoe can suit completely different jobs. Tell MarKay Outdoors what you are doing if you are unsure which attachment is right.

Step 3: Choose the Hire Period

3

Select from the hire options displayed on the product page. Available periods vary between machines.

Same-day hire

Pickup and return happen on the same calendar day within the agreed times.

Full 24-hour hire

You keep the equipment for a complete 24-hour period, including overnight.

Multi-day or weekend hire

Longer periods may be available online or by direct arrangement, depending on the equipment.

Do not confuse same-day with 24 hours. A same-day booking is not automatically an overnight or complete 24-hour hire.

For Kanga PW628 pricing and longer hire options, see the Kanga PW628 Hire Prices in Mackay guide .

To compare the value of shorter and longer bookings, read the Daily vs Weekly Kanga Loader Hire guide .

Step 4: Select the Dates and Available Times

4

Use the booking calendar on the product page to select the available date or date range for your hire.

  • Choose only from the dates and times shown as available.
  • Check the pickup and return details before adding the booking to your cart.
  • Allow enough time to unload, complete the job, clean, refuel, reload and return the equipment.
  • Contact MarKay Outdoors before checkout if the booking period you need is not displayed.
Online availability can change when another customer completes a booking. A date is not secured until checkout is completed successfully.

Step 5: Complete the Dry Hire Agreement

5

Complete the MarKay Outdoors Dry Hire Agreement before collecting the equipment.

The form asks for information including:

  • Your full name and contact details
  • Your address
  • Your business type where applicable
  • The equipment being hired
  • A driver licence upload
  • Acceptance of the Dry Hire Agreement terms
  • Signature or guarantee information where required by the booking type
Licence upload: Have a clear image of your current driver licence ready. The form does not accept PDF files for the licence upload.

Step 6: Review the Refundable Fuel Bond

6

Fuel-powered hire machines leave with a full tank and must be returned full.

Equipment category Refundable fuel bond Return requirement
Kanga loaders $80 Return with a full fuel tank
Small fuel-powered equipment $40 Return with a full fuel tank
The fuel bond is paid in addition to the hire price. When the equipment is returned full and the hire conditions are met, the applicable bond is refunded.
When equipment is not returned full, the fuel cost may be deducted from the bond and the remaining balance refunded.

Step 7: Add the Booking to Your Cart

7

Once the equipment, hire period, dates and required options are correct, add the booking to your cart.

Before moving to checkout, confirm:

  • The correct equipment is shown
  • The correct hire option is selected
  • The correct dates and times are shown
  • The required attachments are included or added
  • The refundable fuel bond is included where required
  • Your contact information is accurate
Do not complete checkout with incorrect dates or equipment and assume it can be changed later. Contact MarKay Outdoors first if anything does not look right.

Step 8: Complete Checkout and Payment

8

Continue to checkout, enter your contact and billing information and select one of the payment methods displayed at checkout.

Available payment options may include card payments, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Afterpay or other methods currently enabled on the store.

Payment methods can vary by device, order type and checkout. Use the options shown during your actual checkout rather than relying on an older screenshot or guide.

Contact MarKay Outdoors before booking if you require a different payment arrangement.

Step 9: Check Your Booking Confirmation

9

After checkout, you should receive an order confirmation email using the email address entered during checkout.

Check that the confirmation shows the correct:

  • Customer details
  • Equipment booked
  • Hire option
  • Booking date or date range
  • Order total
If the email does not arrive, check your junk or spam folder. Contact MarKay Outdoors if you still cannot find the confirmation or any booking information is incorrect.

Step 10: Prepare for Pickup or Delivery

10

Most bookings involve local pickup. Delivery may be available by prior arrangement and costs extra.

For local pickup

  • Confirm the agreed pickup time
  • Bring a suitable tow vehicle where required
  • Check your tow rating and tow-ball capacity
  • Check your trailer plug connection
  • Bring any required licence or identification

For delivery requests

  • Arrange delivery before completing the booking
  • Provide the correct delivery address
  • Confirm safe access for the tow vehicle and trailer
  • Confirm the delivery charge
  • Make sure someone is available at the agreed time
Delivery is not automatically included. It is subject to location, timing and availability and must be arranged directly with MarKay Outdoors.

Trailer and Towing Checks

Some hire equipment is supplied on a trailer. The driver is responsible for making sure the vehicle and towing setup are suitable and legal.

Confirm the vehicle towing capacity.
Confirm the tow-ball download rating.
Check the trailer plug connection.
Check that lights and indicators operate correctly.
Allow for the combined weight of machine and trailer.
Secure loose attachments and accessories correctly.
Do not collect trailer-mounted equipment with an unsuitable tow vehicle. Contact MarKay Outdoors before booking if you are unsure about towing requirements.

Preparing the Job Before Collection

The hire clock should be spent completing the work, not clearing access or buying materials.

Prepare the work area

  • Clear vehicles, rubbish and obstacles
  • Measure gates and narrow access points
  • Mark holes, trenches and finished levels
  • Locate underground and overhead services
  • Check ground slope, soft areas and hazards

Prepare the job

  • Have soil, gravel, pipe or materials onsite
  • Confirm attachment requirements
  • Plan where spoil and materials will be placed
  • Organise suitable personal protective equipment
  • Allow enough time for cleaning and refuelling

Changes, Extensions and Cancellations

Booking changes

Contact MarKay Outdoors as soon as possible if the dates, equipment or contact details need to change.

Hire extensions

Extensions are not automatic. They must be approved and depend on the equipment's next booking.

Cancellations

Review the applicable hire, refund and cancellation terms before booking. Contact MarKay Outdoors early if plans change.

Never keep equipment beyond the agreed return time without approval. Another customer may already have it booked.

Common Booking Mistakes to Avoid

  • Choosing same-day hire when the job realistically requires overnight or multi-day access.
  • Booking a machine without checking gate width or site access.
  • Choosing the wrong attachment for the work.
  • Arriving with a tow vehicle that is not suitably rated.
  • Forgetting to complete the Dry Hire Agreement or upload a licence.
  • Forgetting that the refundable fuel bond is paid upfront.
  • Assuming delivery is included in the advertised hire rate.
  • Starting excavation without locating underground services.
  • Leaving cleaning, refuelling and return travel until the end of the booked period.
