G’day, I’m Mark
Boilermaker by trade, crane operator by profession, machinery bloke at heart — and the owner-operator behind MarKay Outdoors.
I’m a Mackay local and I started MarKay Outdoors to give homeowners, DIYers, tradies and contractors access to useful equipment without the cost and hassle of owning machinery they might only need occasionally.
MY STORY
Machinery Has Always Been Part of What I Do
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to learn a little more about me and MarKay Outdoors.
I’m a boilermaker by trade and currently work as a crane operator in the mining industry. I’ve spent plenty of time around machinery and I’ve always enjoyed solving problems, working out better ways to tackle a job and getting things done safely and efficiently.
That eventually led me to start MarKay Outdoors here in Mackay.
The idea was pretty simple: build a local equipment hire business around machines that are genuinely useful for the sort of work people are doing around their homes, yards, properties and worksites.

When You Contact MarKay Outdoors, You’re Dealing With Me
I handle the enquiries, look after the equipment and help customers work out which machine or attachment is actually suitable for what they’re trying to achieve.
I understand that not everyone hiring machinery uses equipment every day — and I don’t expect them to.
If it’s your first time using a Kanga loader, stump grinder, aerator, dethatcher or another machine, I’ll help you understand the basics before you head off.
The aim is simple: get the right gear, understand what you’re using and get your job done.
